Summary of position

Qualco is a small but rapidly expanding, energetic and ambitious Technology company; working within the Collections & Recoveries sector of the Financial Services Industry. Our clients range from Utilities and Telecoms companies, Banks and Lending companies and our aim is to use our expertise to empower our clients with technology thereby improving their recoveries.

The primary role of the Assistant Accountant is to provide support to the Head of Finance, who manages the Finance function.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Assistant Accountant will:

  • Assist with the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts including management of ledgers and control accounts
  • Prepare and complete monthly Payroll and Pension scheme administration
  • Provide on-going support to overseas H/O providing relevant reporting of financial data, liaising and answering queries
  • Creation and production of internal and external reporting requirements
  • Complete cash flow reconciliation and forecast
  • Cover weekly partner invoicing and reconciliation of system data, along with sales invoicing to the client
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Assist Audit with Year-End Statutory Accounts queries
  • Preparation and completion of P11D’s
  • Assist with tax return calculations
  • Contribute to ensuring systems and procedures in place comply with financial legal requirements, and highlight to the Head of Finance any possible process and internal control improvements
  • Support Head of Finance and the wider finance team, assisting with any additional ad-hoc finance work as required

Required skills/experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience in a similar finance role
  • Be proficient in accounting software, preferably Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Payroll, with advanced excel knowledge
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Be versatile and flexible, and able to adapt to new tasks in a fast moving environment
  • Be a proven multi-tasker with good problem solving and analytical skills

The following knowledge would be beneficial:

  • Knowledge of the Collections & Recoveries Industry
  • Understanding of Data Protection legislation and requirements of standard ISO27001
