Qualco Live on the River

Forecasting for a Premier League promotion was an unexpected item on the agenda at yesterday’s Qualco Live on the River, but the creation of three Income & Expenditure scenarios dependent on Fulham Football Club’s (FFC’s) position at the end of the season offered an uncanny synergy to the life of the collections professional.

Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham FC, opened its turnstiles for Qualco UK’s second live event, which welcomed an intimate gathering of clients, customers and industry leaders on the hottest day of the year so far. FFC’s chief finance officer Sean O’Loughlin provided a fascinating insight into the day-to-day finance operations of running a football club on and off the pitch, from dealing with the see-saw of Championship versus Premier League budgets and player stock, to an insight into working for two eccentric billionaire Chairmen.

Football-aside, the popular event forum continued to provide analysis, debate and opinion on market trends and leading industry topics such as Open Banking, white label services and multi-discipline case studies.

The event opened with OpenWrks chief executive officer, Olly Betts, exploring the new world of Open Banking and the impact it could have on the collections and credit management space in the short and long term.

Andrew Stothart, head of finance operations for Tesco Mobile, offered insight into the success the organisation had experienced since appointing Qualco’s ExtraCollect platform. Delegates discovered that collection rates had doubled, complaints had decreased, and there was a drop in involuntary churn.

Qualco took the opportunity to unveil the forthcoming update of ExtraCollect, which features a new, cleaner interface and additional functionality including income and expenditure tracking, individual agent ID capture and can be accessed on mobile devices.

The day’s agenda also featured a session hosted by Past Due Credit, who differentiate from other DCAs by offering white label BPO services. Qualco’s UK head of sales, Jan-Michael Lacey offered insight into some of the solutions to managing an outsourced panel that Qualco provides. Delegates enjoyed a unique session to end the day in which they learned about the history of gin production in the UK and abroad.

Qualco UK’s managing director, Christian Jacob, commented: “Qualco Live on the River was an enjoyable and insightful day in a unique setting overlooking the River Thames. The Qualco Live series offers a useful opportunity for clients, partners and potential customers to engage with the Qualco UK senior leadership team whilst gaining useful industry intelligence and the chance to network with fellow peers. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to the next Qualco Live event.”
