Qualco UK publishes guide on GDPR system compliance

Qualco UK has published a guide to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that is tailored to collections teams and their systems and processes. You can view the guide here.

The long-awaited GDPR comes into effect on 25 May 2018, which is a replacement for the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive, and is designed to significantly increase personal data protection for EU citizens. Collections teams must ensure they have embedded the necessary controls as the regulation increases the obligations on businesses that collect and use personal data.

A key principle of GDPR is Privacy by Design. This is not a new concept but this is the first time it has been enshrined in legislation. It means data protection must be designed into systems rather than bolted on. Qualco’ s technology platforms – IntraCollect & ExtraCollect – were built with stringent data protection requirements in mind, including all existing UK Data Protection legislation. They have been further enriched ahead of GDPR to ensure data can be collected at the click of a button and all the relevant consents and access controls are standard.

Download the GDPR system compliance guide, which is chiefly concerned with areas specific to collections, namely: the transfer of data to third parties; customer consent; auditing; removal& deletion; access control; the right to restrict, and data portability & access. Businesses must ensure that their collections systems meet the new standards to avoid penalties and damage to their reputation.
